Mental Health Awareness in the Somali Community
Mental health in the Somali community is an issue that is not talked about enough. People with mental health struggles are shamed and misunderstood. The Somali community sees this issue as a spiritual problem rather than a health problem.Back home people with mental health issues are called crazy and they are tied to trees. Many Somali people have mental health problems because most of them lived through war, instead of talking about it they suffer in silence. You may be asking yourself how we can fix this problem. We will make a workshop in Somali so the older members in our community can understand. It will take a lot of time and work but with the right mindset we will get goals.

How does this inspire the community?
She gave a voice to black Canadians and called for an end to slavery, and she showed empathy for them.

BTS: A Global Force for Community Empowerment
Mental Health Awareness in the Somali Community
BTS has become a global phenomenon and is more than just an overrated musical act to overlook. They are known as a beacon of hope and empowerment for millions worldwide. Through their initiatives, BTS has redefined how artists can impact their communities, inspiring both fans and global audiences to take positive action.
The thing that many people hear when talking about BTS’s impact is the Love Myself campaign with UNICEF, promoting self-love and combating violence. Their 2018 speech at the United Nations urged young people to "speak yourself," emphasizing individuality and self-expression. This focus on mental health and self-empowerment resonates deeply with their audience, fostering a culture of acceptance and resilience.
Beyond advocacy, BTS backs their words with action. They have donated millions to causes like education, disaster relief, and children’s welfare. Their most talked about donation is their Black lives matter $1 million donation. Their philanthropic spirit has motivated their fanbase, ARMY, into organizing charity drives, environmental initiatives, and social campaigns, amplifying their collective impact. The BTS ARMY also after hearing BTS’s black Lives Matter Donation, decided to match their donation, raising another million dollars in less than 24 hours. The ARMY, are known for their charitable act, and even have a whole website dedicated to charity project maps donating all over the world.
Through music, BTS addresses issues like inequality, societal pressures, and mental health, with tracks like "Spring Day" and "21st Century Girls" spreading messages of hope and strength. As global artists breaking barriers, they inspire marginalized communities to dream big, proving that cultural and language differences can be overcome. BTS encourages people to stand up for what they believe in, taking inspiration from influential political figures such as Martin Luther King jr and using quotes from his speech in his song. In the song “Not Today” the song writer and leader of BTS RM, use the quote, “If you can’t fly, then run, today we will survive. If you can’t run, then walk, today we will survive. If you can’t walk, then crawl, today we will survive.” This shows that BTS is clearly encouraging people to fight for your rights.
There is a saying that you don't find BTS, but BTS finds you when you need them the most, personally i believe that statement. BTS found me during the 2020 covid lockdown, when the whole world stopped, and people were stuck in their homes bored and hopeless. I came across a BTS video on youtube one day and decided to watch it, a decision that would change my life forever. Watching BTS videos, listening to their music, learning about the group and participating in BTS events as an ARMY allowed me to feel a sense of belonging and less lonely in this crazy situation. I found myself through BTS, and I wouldn't be the more confident outgoing person I am today if it wasn't for them.
BTS’s legacy is one of unity, activism, and empowerment, showing the world that art and purpose can intertwine to create lasting change. They are not just pop icons, they are leaders of a generation, trying to make the world a better place.
