DO YOU SEE ME?

Why do Toronto hoods feel unsafe?
Why do they call our neighbourhoods trench
Why do people feel uneasy on my street?
Why is no one ever thrilled to be in our communities?
Why are the streets plagued with violence and crime?
Why do parents feel hopeless?
These questions leave people asking why?
A young Black boy blackmailed,
forced, and pushed to crime.
Why do white children get to be kids,
while we’re rushed into adulthood?
